I'm in need of help about how to compare and contrast two poems? How should I start my essay out?
The essay is on Li-Young Lee's Eating Together and Rita Dove's Grape Sherbet.

Start by reading the poems. Brainstorm some ideas before you start writing the essay. Figure out what exactly is similar about the two poems and what is different according to the criteria you have listed. Those will provide a structure for your argument. You can start with something like : Although both poems address (...) each possesses distinct differences (...). Just outline the similarities and differences.
