How much ram can you have on Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium?

hey i got a laptop running vista home premium 32 bit, i kinda do a lot of gaming so i want one of my friends to build me a high end desktop i will not go back to XP and i want to know should i go with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit OR 32-Bit,

well i mean you can only use about 3GB on the 32-Bit how much can you realy use with 64-Bit

The 64 bit version can take up to 128GB of RAM. However, most motherboards only support up to 8GB right now. There are some compatibility issues with the 64 bit version of the OS right now, so I'd say stick with the 32 bit version and spend more money on a good video card, maybe try SLI/Crossfire and two good cards.

BTW, I recommend the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 motherboard. It's got good reviews at newegg.com and performs well.

thanks, i am looking at a SLI board that will support 16GB but i think i am going to stay with about 4GB
