If I am installing laminate and carpet in the same room. Do I install the carpet or the laminate first?

The room is 15 X 31. Laminate is to be (one end 15X8 and 2.5 around the existing perimeter) and carpet to be layed in the center of the remaining floor. Which should I install first?

Carpet last...no if and or buts... Lay out and install the 8 feet entrance and your 2.5 border. You'll then lay your tack strip and tuck the carpet down in between the tack strip and laminate flooring. Good Luck...

i would do the carpet first then you know what you are working with when it comes to doing the floor.

As a self-proclamed 'handyman", I don't think that it makes all that much difference. However, I would install the Laminate first. In that way you won't get dust and dirt into the new carpet.

I will break the apparent tie...I think the laminate should go in first. For the reason previously stated AND the Laminate will give you a good edge to scribe to - be sure to get a transition strip for the entire perimeter of your carpet.
