How long should you freeze grass seed before you plant it?

I've heard you should freeze grass seed before you plant it, so it will germinate in half the time. But how long should it be frozen for?

Freeze overnight and plant the next morning.

Never heard of it. No need to do it, it will germinate in a week.

I started a new blue grass lawn in Denver. I did not freeze the seeds and no one else that I know of did either. We had shoots in about a week.
