I need to know a spice you sprinkle around house to keep ants away?

An 80 year old neighbor of mine swears by cayenne pepper and or tobasco sauce!

It's salt....sprinkle salt at the place you find the ants are coming in the house and where they gather around....it is a personal experience....good luck

There are a lot of old wives tales on this one, and really I have not found any that work well. I've seen ants walk right though paprika, chili powder, salt, etc.
Ants are notoriously one of the most difficult pests to get rid of. Best bet, find where they are coming in and patch the hole/entrance, etc. That's your best option for a chem free approach. Also, keep your counters, etc. spotlessly clean (even one tiny drop of spilled juice will bring 'em running) ..if they have nothing to feed on, they tend to move on. Good luck!

I've used cayene pepper too.

I have tried the borax/ sugar & water--didn't work--heard it only works for sugar ants (never heard of sugar ants)
most recently I have heard to try cayenne pepper. am gonna try it. I have tried those round ant traps--they don't work.
am tempted to try gasoline & a match but the anthills are too close to my house

Haven't seen any spice/spray that will do the job. There is onething that my wife and I have done at our summer home and that is to use a jell ( don't have the Name) that the ants take back to their hole/nest, within a short time there are no more ants.

This is not a spice, but it's worth a try and it's cheap. Sprinkle baby powder on the mound.

i have not tried this but i hear basil works. supposedly ants dont like the smell and will go the other way. im gonna try on my hummingbird feeders this year.
