Are there any egg dyeing kits that wont stain my daughters hands and clothes?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and I would like to dye Easter eggs with her but I'm worried about her hands and clothes being stained. Does anyone know of any egg dyeing kits that wont stain? or is there any way to make the dye less satinable? Someone told me that mixing the dye with water or lemon juice, rather then vinegar might work. Anyone have any insight on this method?

Put your daughter in some old clothes and let her have some fun. She will not mind getting her hands dyed and it will ware off with time. Do it in the basement, garage or outside. The kits you buy are safe to use. Have fun and get your hands colored too.

IDK, but bear in mind that some of those dyes are the same that are used to dye fabric and carpet, as well as food dyes.

the vinegar is what sets the dye. try it with just water

Just mix a good quality food colourant with water and make sure she is wearing old clothes/a thick pinny. Part of the fun is making the mess!! Rubbing her hands with baby lotion will help remove any stains.

Why not just buy some small rubber gloves, the kind surgeons use, you can get small ones in any hardware store and they are usually small enough and the latex is so thin that they will cling to her little fingers  you can just push them up on her fingers. and put a very big apron on her and let her dye the eggs. it's only once a year. and whats a little food coloring on her fingers anyway, it will wash off also you can put some Vaseline on her hands before she puts on the gloves then any coloring that gets on her hands won't stain as much

You may want to give your daughter a smock or old t-shirt to wear when she dyes her eggs, rather than letting her wear her good clothes.

hey be patient your daughter is only 2 1/2 years old. her attention span won't last for hours when dying the eggs. the new pen marker like previously said should be your best bet.

I remember when I was little, instead of using dyes, we bought packets of decorated heat shrink wrap that you would place around the egg and I think you dip it in hot water or hold it above some heat source (light bulb/hair dryer) and the wrap would shrink around the egg. It's a much cleaner alternative to dyeing and looks just as nice.
