Are airplanes safe?

im afraid of airplanes...are they really safe? waht are some details about them that make them so safe???

Here is the only detail that you need to know. Modern airplanes typically have an accident rate of less than 1 hull loss per one million departures and most have a rate that is far under that. (A hull loss is an accident in which the aircraft is "totaled".) For example, the 737NG series, which is one of the most common aircraft flown, has a loss rate of .07 per million departures.

You're more likely to get killed in a car accident than in an airplane accident, so don't worry about it.

    Honey I've flown several times and it will never be my favorite thing to do, it's just so much faster. I think that flying is safer than driving. When you hear of a car wreck there will be a few casualties, but just think if you put them all together across the country in one day it would unfortunately be a lot. When a plane crashes you just think it's so much worse because there are so many deaths at one time. I always say when it's my time to go no one can save me and if it's not my time to go no one can take me.
