WASHINGTON – Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, who raised controversy by saying she was proud of her country for the first time in her adult life, has had some even harsher things to say about America on the campaign trail.

In a New Yorker profile, she is quoted in a stump speech made throughout South Carolina as characterizing America as "just downright mean."

And as far as people calling names or saying awful things to some----Jesus, Gandhi, Mother Theressa, Florance Nightingale , Princess Di, and many others did--and it was justified too. Good people call out wrong. It is the right thing to do.

well we are looking strikingly similar to the Roman Empire at the end of its run, right before downfall.

They too had a complacent society gone soft and questioning everything to the point where doubt and misinformation set in.

They suffered from very bad idiotic arrogant and paranoid leaders, and a corrupt government. In fact, look at any Empire right before it crumbles and it looks the same.

What I'm saying is we have changed from the Americans with the can-do attitude who rolled their sleeves up and build cities and roads from the Eastern seaboard to the Pacific into these complaining softies who are highly cynical of a government that fails to protect us from the greed of business, the extortion of financial services, the sickening food, being turned away at the door of hospitals or charged an arm and a leg, and often times this government is in cahoots with these very businesses that make a profit by trimming their services and charging us more.

If we can roll our sleeves up once again, and fix our problems, we can rescue ourselves, otherwise, we have a whole history of empires and their downfall to look at.

Michelle Obama's good looks and charm set her apart from most people in a room, but underneath all that beauty she's just another whining liberal who didn't get what she deserved out of life and is bound and determined to make everyone else pay for it. (Yawn.)

It is obvious that you only read part of this article and not the whole thing. The things that she points out are true; college being too expensive, health care, and the disappearance of pensions. It has been going on for a good while. As a result of these things, Americans are kind of being ruled by fear and cynicism. A critical disease like cancer, can wipe a family's finances out in a heartbeat. Some people also fear retirement, how to send their kids to college, etc.
I missed the part where she said she is not proud. Read this quote again for me:

for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment."

I think she says she is proud that so many Americans desire change.
