How Long did it take you to become fluent in Spanish?

Hi there! yo estoy determinada a aprender espanol! I want to be fluent so bad. What steps did you take to learn the language & how long did take to be fluent? I do plan to go spend some time in another country for about 2-3 months. Has anyone done this?Thanks for your help.

It depends a lot on how much opportunity you have to use it conversationally.

You can make agreements with other students in your class to only speak Spanish when you see each other out of class. That will help if you don't have anyone else to practice with.

The most important thing is to learn how to THINK in Spanish. Also, you will be greatly surprised at the differences you find conversationally between what you learn in school and what is spoken in Mexico.
