Why do teens want to have kids?

some thinks its cool
some want to be young mums
i.e if they have a baby at 14 then they will only be 14 years older than there child all the time, i personally think its crazy, because bodies arent fully developed at tht age

i had one because of minipulation ... diffrent story but yeah... most teens want kids because they think they are in love and are going to get married and be a happy little couple though thats not realtiy. for some it is but most of the time its not

Most teens don't really want to have kids while they are teens. They get pregnant because they want to have sex.

When they DO want to have kids, I imagine it is because they are maturing physically and procreative hormones are kicking in...

IDK..my high school has a high rate of girls having babies...i dont get why...most of them dont even no how to take care of a baby.

Some teens think that by having a kid they will have someone who will always love them unconditionally. Sometimes it's a way for them to "grow up" faster, or a way to force a boyfriend to always be in their lives.

Now this is just for the teens that set out to get preggers, I'm not talking about the ones that accidentally get pregnant and choose to have the baby - that's different.

most of them do it to have babies but once they have them they realize that it is more than that, lots of responsibility, they also dont stay babies for long, i had my first son when i was 17 and i had no clue what i was doing thank god i had my mom,, she taught me every trick in the book, i know have four children and if i could change anything now, i would have still had them all just when i was alot older

I'm a former teen mom. And I never wanted kids EVER untill I had my daughter. Now I'm 23 and I have 3 of them.

I knew a girl in high school who became pregnant because she was trying to get her boyfriend to marry her. Yeah, of course that didn't work out. He left the state soon after the baby was born. Sadly, right after she graduated, she did the same thing again! She became pregnant again trying to get this guy to marry her and once again, he dropped her soon after the baby was born. On top of that, she wasn't a very good mom and went out and all the time and left the kids with the grandparents. Sad.

They don't they just 'think' they do. Teens are half child - half adult so they still have some things to understand. Its just like the child who wants to be a policeman when he grows up, but after he matures he realizes that its a dangerous job. Same reasoning here, teens are often motivated by what goes on at school. If one 'popular' girl has a baby it makes her a mini celeb at school - as a result every other girl wants to do the same. However in a different situation, if that same girl makes fun of a pregnant classmate, being pregnant will become the thing 'cool' people don't do - other will follow suit. Teens have to be given good guidance at home, and parents need to pay more attention to who they spend time with at school. Teens are subject to the rules of the 'crowd', and the crowd is made up of other confused, young, inexperienced kids. They simply don't know better.

Because they don't get enough love at home they feel like a baby will love them the way no one else can.

Because they think its cool to dress up a little person and show the baby off to their young friends.

Because they don't have hobbies and something better to focus their young lives on .. like an education.

Because they think it's cute to have a little baby to troll around, what they don't realize is, the baby won't be a baby long...the novelty wears off and responsibility sets in...and that's comming from someone who was an UNPLANNED TEEN MOM!

Because they're too immature to understand the full responsibility of raising a child. They think of a baby more as a cute little accessory that they can dress up in little outfits and tote around the mall. When my son was about a year old, a group of teenage girls started fussing over him one day. One of the girls said, "Oh, I can't wait to have a baby so I can dress him up and carry him around with me like that!" As politely as I could, I asked her to please not have children until she could come up with a better reason to do so.
They don't think about the fact that a baby won't be a baby forever. He will turn into a fussy toddler, a wild kid, and finally a teenager. They don't realize how much they will have to sacrifice, and how much money it costs to raise a baby. One girl on here said she was 14, wanted to get pregnant, and claimed she was ready because she makes lots of money babysitting after school. Now that's really scary.
I don't know why they would think it's cool or cute to be a teen parent. There's a little girl who comes on here saying she has two sets of triplets. Just a week ago, it was twins. It's beyond me why they would want to do something like that, and furthermore, why they think anyone would be impressed with it. I personally find it pathetic and very, VERY sad.

I'm also not putting down teens who have an unplanned pregnancy, and then turn their lives around so that they can grow up and be good parents. Rather, I'm referring to teens who get pregnant by choice, want to get pregnant, and/or come on here pretending they have kids as some sort of pathetic fantasy game.

I always wanted a baby. I wanted one when I was 3 years old.. I wanted one at 15.. I had one at 18.. I wanted another soon after and I still want another. I can't have another due to medical reasons. So, my daughter is all I will have. I think I was meant to be a mom and it is what I am good at. I took care of 3 kids under 2 and I had mine who is 5. I loved it. I would do it again. I think everyone should WAIT till they are out of school, have had a stable job and a place of their own for 2 years straight before having a child.

Because they feel the need to fill a "void" they feel in their life. Not thinking about the consequences of it at all. It's not fair to them and the baby. and the main reason is : They don't care.
