Yes I think it's true. "Smothering" the one you love in a relationship is a sure way to kill the feelings that are there. And it can happen in friendships as well as romance.

I guess I had better back of on the smothering. I suppose it is due to my own insecurities...some which were caused by him...but the only person I can control is me, so I need to work on me. I had not thought about smothering pertaining to friendships as well. Great thoughts, thank you!

I don`t believe that any love could survive that kind of treatment. That`s why I say that physical attraction may bring two together, it`s personality that keeps them together.
