How many tax payers are there in the US? Need link please?

i know there are 308 million people.. but that includes decrepit and children.. how many working people are there? I cant find anything in the Census..

For tax year 2005, 134,372,678 individual tax returns were filed. Of those filed, 99,880,223 actually had a tax liability and actually paid taxes.

Ok, do the math, with 850 billion in stimulus bill, that's $8500.00 per tax return for those who have a tax liability (99,880,223 rounded to 100 million). If this money was loaned to credit worthy home owners at 4 %, then the government would actually make money on this investment, imagine that!
