Alcohol is much more harmful to your health than marijuana. The ratio of the effective to lethal dose of alcohol is about 1 to 8 or even less. That means it only takes 8 times as much alcohol to kill you as it takes to get a buzz. On the other hand, it's not even known if there is a lethal dose of THC (the stuff in marijuana that gets you high), if there is its so large that it would not be humanly possible to smoke enough pot to ever achieve that dose.

At the same time, anyone who has ever gotten drunk will tell you that they've done things that are embarrassing, had sex with someone whom they wouldn't have if they were sober, and had a hangover. A hangover is your bodies way of telling you that alcohol is BAD for you. You should trust what your body tells you. Alcohol is also physically addictive, which means if you are an alcoholic and you stop drinking you can experience severe physical withdrawal symptoms. Meanwhile, marijuana is not physically addictive, and may be considered mentally addictive.... but so is TV, peanut butter, etc.

That said, a drink every now and again isn't so bad, as long as you don't over do it. But if you're going to say marijuana should be illegal because it's dangerous, than it's outrageous to have alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes be legal as these drugs are much more dangerous and addictive than THC.

Legalize it
