Who would win in a 7 game series, The 1996 Bulls v.s. The 1987 Lakers?

The 1996 Bulls:
72-10 (regular season)
15-3 (postseason)
Starting lineup:

SG: Michael Jordan (MVP - All-NBA - All-Defensive - Finals MVP - All-Star MVP - Scoring Champ)
PG: Ron Harper
SF: Scottie Pippen (All-NBA - All-Defensive - All-Star)
PF: Dennis Rodman (All-Defensive Team)
C: Luc Longley
Sixth Man: Toni Kukoc (The 1996 Sixth Man)
Coach: Phil Jackson (Coach of the Year)

1987 Lakers:
67-17 (regular season)
15-3 (postseason)
Start lineup:
SG: Bryon Scott
PG: Magic Johnson (MVP - All-NBA - Finals MVP - All-Star)
SF: James Worthy (All-Star)
PF: A.C. Green
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (All-Star)
Sixth Man: Michael Cooper (DPOY - All-Defensive)
Coach:
Pat Riley

I'm going with The 1996 Bulls. The 1996 Bulls have better honors, defense, offense, & season record. 3 of the Bulls starters are on the All-Defensive team, 2 are All-NBA , their sixth man was Sixth Man of the Year, & their coach is coach of the year. I say the Bulls would win 4-2. Who do you guys got?

lol, you're just a hater.

BTW, you guys that hate MJ need to stop being hypocrites. Everyone that says, 'DEFENSENSE' wins championships ought of go with The Bulls on this one. None of The Lakers starters were on the All-Defensive Team.

jtsports92,
you act like The Bulls never had to deal with a dominate center. I do recall The 1996 Bulls sweeeeeping The Magic (Shaq, Penny, Grant, & etc). They also had to deal with Ewing & The Knicks and succeeded.

Me too but the series would be close, 4-3, MJ Finals MVP, and the final game score would be 113-112 Bulls with (here me commentating on the closing seconds) Jordan scoring with 10 seconds left and Magic Johnson with the ball in his hands with 5 ticks on the board and goes for the layup on drive for the win and...(ball spins around the rim 7 times) and its off!!!!! THE BULLS WIN IT 113-112!!!!! :)...hehe ;P Jordan scores 43 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and averages 27.3ppg, 5.4apg, 4.9rpg in the series. Johnson led the final game with 54 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Bulls and MJ-MJ would will them to victory. 6/6 in titles. Bulls have a better bench with role players that are more effective.

Magic Johnson, and Michael Cooper would be a great matchup with Jordan and Pippen. But the Lakers had Worthy and when the three would be on the court, Toni Kukoc may not have been able to stop whoever he might have to guard. Magic Johnson is also smart enough to realize that Kareem has also a foot of height over Dennis Rodman. Rodman would foul out before Kareem misses a hook shoot. Luc Longley obviously has the height but they aussie didnt have athletism to matchup with one of the most dominant centers in history. Kareem is too big of a X-factor and if Chicago tried to double team him anyone else on the court could hit the open shoot. In a single game it would be the Lakers. After a series the Lakers would win 4 - 1 because after 2 or 3 games Kareem would have to take a short game after the pounding and the Bulls could take advantage of Kareem's absence with Dennis guarding one of the smaller scoring threats allowing for more breaks and a lower shooting percentage for the Lakers since they wont have the short shoots and open jumpers that he would provide. At worst the series would go to 4 - 2 Lakers if Kareem took a serious pounding.

Worthy is a defensive liability for the Lakers but a much greater mismatch would be Kareem vs anyone else on the Bulls and the latter would have a much greater impact on the game.

Unlike Shaq or Ewing whose offensive low post game requires much banging down low to get position and thus falls easy prey to the Bulls interior trapping defense, Kareem's game is finesse. He is not gonna be trapped inside because his skyhook could be lofted much farther from the hoop. He would school Longley in much the same way he schooled a young Olajuwon before.

Kareem is also a two time All Defensive First team.

    Showtime for the win.

The Lakers were a much, much deeper team than the Bulls...

You only went as far as a 6th man... the Lakers had Mychal Thompson and Kurt Rambis coming off the bench in addition to Cooper... both were instrumental in helping the Lakers to several titles.

The Lakers shot a higher FG% than the Bulls, and also held their opponents to a lower FG% than the Bulls did.

Despite the presence of 3 all-defensive players (Jordan only made it because of the other two), the matchups favor the Lakers in this series. We all know how hilarious it would be to watch Luc Longley try to guard Kareem... They'd have to put Jordan on Byron Scott, since there's no way he could handle Magic. That would leave Ron Harper to try to handle Magic.. forget about it.

Worthy (at that time) would be a good matchup with Pippen, even if you wanna give Scottie a slight edge, it wouldn't be enough to offset the Lakers advantages at the other positions.

The Lakers assist totals exceeded the Bulls assist totals by about 400 in those two years... much more balanced scoring, and much more unselfish play from ALL postions.

Dennis Rodman could take A C Green at power forward, but what a waste of an all defensive player... Green would have been the 5th option in that Laker offense.

The teams were even in rebounding (the Bulls had 18 more rebounds in 1996 than the Lakers had in 1987).

Basically, the Lakers would let Michael get his 30 or 40 points, and would beat the Bulls decisively with a balanced attack.

The Lakers got a better bench(like today's Lakers) and they had to play the Celtics(Bird,Mchale and Parish) and got the greatest(or one of the greatest) PGs of all time, Magic. Oh, he played just about every position.
And the starting line-up could beat them already.
P.S. Who challenged the Bulls anyway? The Knicks?the Pistons?Face it no competition 4-1
