Who are a better tippers? men? women?

Most tipping is probably done by men since we always have to pay for everything. Men also tip better because most people that wait are women.

I think the first answerer is on target. I was taught by my Mother in Law...bless her soul...to scrutinize the service for tipping. She raised 6 kids as a waitress and knew it well. She taught me to tip well but only if deserved. My Husband does the tipping and generally leaves $5.00 for a $20.00 meal and up from there. His Mother taught him as well. Although my husband is a tightwad in all other areas.....this isn't one of them.

Men are DEFINITELY better tippers, I was a waitress for a while and I always got better tips from men than women. Since you work for tips, sometimes women have to flirt a little bit and that definitely helps to get a better tip.

Just from my experience, women are better tippers in general. Men are usually the ones paying, and like to look down on what they think is a poor little uneducated waitress since they're rich. So on a $100 meal it was a miracle to get $5. Women on the other hand, I've heard so many of them say "You've been working so hard, I know what it's like, I used to be a waitress too" and the bigger tips come out. Or they see what the man has left and she digs out a few more bills after he gets up.

In my experience Men are better tippers than Women. It was hard for me to even get 10% out of women where as men would leave about 15-20%. Now I am not saying all men and women, but generally this is my experience.
And NO I did not flirt, I do not feel like you should have to flirt to do your job.
