Who do you think would win in a 7 game series, Team A or Team B (must read for more detail)?

Just say that all of these guys are at the best we've ever seen them.

Team A is Offense:

PG: Magic Johnson
SG: George 'The Ice Man' Gervin
SF: Julius 'Dr. J' Erving
PF: Charles Barkely
C: Amare Stoudemire
Reserves:
Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitzki, Clyde 'The Glyde' Drexler, Reggie Miller, Lebron James, Elgin Baylor, Dominique Wilkins, Allen Iverson, & Steve Nash
COACH: Pat Riley

None of those guys has ever been on any All-Defensive Teams.

Team B is defense
PG: Jason Kidd - 9X All-Defensive
SG: Doug Christie - 4X All-Defensive
SF: Scottie Pippen - 10X All-Defensive
PF: Dennis Rodman - 2X DPOY & 2X All-Defensive
C: Bill Russell - 1X All-Defensive
Reserves:
Dikembe Mutombo, Ben Wallace, Michael Cooper, Joe Dumars, Bruce Bowen, Tayshaun Prince, Ron Artest, Eric Snow, John Stockton
COACH: Larry Brown

All of these guys as been on the All-Defensive Team.

Anyways, this is just to prove that OFFENSE is more important then defense. I'd say Team A would win 4-0.

Additional Details

countee1914,
LAY OFF THE CRACK! These teams never played with each other so how do you know what kind of chemistry they'll have. Team A have plenty unselfish passive players on it for it to work. BTW, you can NEVER have to much offense! Wow, what a moron?

Crying M,
first of all you need to 'READ' the question. I never said anything about a game 7, I said 7 game series, & I never said anything about the NBA Finals, I said a 7 game series! So get it right!

BTW, Team A have rebounders as well. They got Round Mound REBOUND,
Charles Barkley:
1 Rebound Titles (14.6 rpg in 1986-87)
11.7 rpg career average

Amare Stoudemire:
9.1 rpg career average

Yao Ming:
10.6 rpg 2007-08 (this year)
9.1 rpg career average

Dirk Nowitzki:
9.9 rpg 2002-03 (his best rebounding year)
8.6 rpg career average

Dr. J:
11.9 rpg ABA career average
9.3 career average

Magic Johnson:
1, 465 total rebounds in the play-offs (the record for 'GUARDS')

Anyways, as you can see, rebounding isn't going to be a problem for Team A. They have rebounders. But I have a question for you. How is Team B going to SCORE threw out a 7 game series? They don't have any true scorers! Like I said, Team A in a 4 game sweep!

Scoring > Defense

LieKill & Crying M,
you guys are really on drugs!...... LMFAO at you 2. If you really think that Team B would win you're on something, As matter of fact, you guys are nothing but some Alpha Wuss wannabes. You guys know the truth but you just wanna disagree with THE KING (because that's what haters do). I'm on to you guys because every question I ask you guys disagree with my opinion. I never once seen any of you agree with me not even one time. I could get on here and say Team B would win & you guys would start saying why Team A would win. Far as I know you guys probably are Alpha ****** under another name!

ALPHA WUSS, HIS CLONES, & HIS WANNABES SUCKS!

I agree. Team A. Defense is very important. But defense is largely effort. A team with a dynamic offense can still play enough offense to win a championship. The offense always has the advantage because defense is done through read and react.

When you have that many great offensive players, theres no way a defense only oriented team could put up enough points to survive the onslaught they would receive.

It's not like the guys on Team A are incapable of playing defense. The guys on Team B are all pretty bad offensively (Kidd is shooting 36%, for example) but the guys on A do play better than mediocre D. It's a bit unfair of a comparison, but Team A would win in 4 or 5.

Well Team A look like a fun team too watch
but Defense is the important factor than Offense in NBA or any other sport.

Besides Team B has a couple of offense players but still i say Team A in a best of 7

The problem with an overly offensive team is that they can't play defense. a defensive team doesn't have to score a lot points, just more than the other team. with team A they would have to have strickly role players(which would be difficult) where as team b you have guys who can score enough and play defense(stcokton, pippen, artest, dumars can all give 15 points if needed) with mutombo, rodman, wallace the post is covered. prince, cooper, russell could just fill on both ends.

team A: TOO MUCH OFFENSE, all these you have are on teams where they were the primary go to players, no role players what so ever

Team B: good chemistry. allmost every player is known for playing on BOTH ends of the court not just one

i say team B because Russell never lost a game 7 if it goes that far and with all those rebounders on team B how is team A going to get the ball ok Queen those are good rebounders but team B has great rebounders and besides how is team A going to be able to get a shot off when team B has all their players on lockdown?

    Team B rebounders:
Bill Russell- 22.5rpg 2nd all time

Dennis Rodman- 13.1rpg 12th all time

Ben Wallace- 10.7rpg 37th all time

Dikembe Mutombo- 10.6rpg 40th all time

I rest my case when you control the boards you control the game and team B will control the boards easily and besides i dont see team A scoring alot of points in the paint either because all four of those players are also great shotblockers as well.

    Beat that Queen!

    Defense wins championships.

If you cant score then you cant win and Team B will absolutely shut down Team A.

    Team B wins in 5 games 4-1.

QUEEN if you think great offense can beat great defense then how come the suns can not get past the spurs in the playoffs?

I just made another case on why defense beats offense.

    Figure that out.

    Team defense for the win.

Team Offense CANNOT STOP Team Defense from what it does best - Defense.

Team Defense however COULD PREVENT Team Offense from what it does best - scoring.

Smart passing and there are plenty of smart passers in the Team Defense like J-Kidd, Russell and Pippen can compensate for a team's relatively weak offensive options by setting up high percentage shots for its players to score.

On the other hand, a team CANNOT COMPENSATE for a weak defensive lineup. Defensive liabilities like the Ice-man and Dr. J are gaping holes in the defense that cant be permanently plugged. Sure you could do double teams and zone defense to cover up the weak defensive guy but against a great passing team like this Team Defense it would be useless.

There is a workaround for a team with bad offense. There is no workaround for a team with bad defense.
