Pretty high in fat and sugar. Don't eat a lot of them...maybe mix with some other things to make a healthier snack mix.

Most banana chips are deep fried in vegetable oil. Some are even honey-dipped or coated with crunchy caramelized sugar. A fresh banana would be better.

Try to find dehydrated (not fried) chips that are unsulfered and unglazed. Many health food stores have them in their bulk sections.

Also, if portability isn't an issue (i.e. it wouldn't sit in the bottom drawer of your desk for weeks on end) why not eat a fresh banana? The potassium boost is great for the mid-day blahs and paired with some water will make you feel really full. :o)

Hope this helps, good luck! :o)

They're quite high in fat and sugar. Especially sugar as most banana chips a sweetened with either honey or sugar. You'll be ok eating them, just in moderation. It's still way better for you than chocolate or candy if you're craving something sweet.

They certainly are yummy but not too good for the waist line though.
The western versions that are so sickly sweet have a very artificial taste. The Thai version of banana chips is a lesser evil but bad is bad.

But no, if you are on a diet you shouldn't be eating banana chips that are soaked in trans fat and sugar and god knows what other chemicals they put in them. They are basically as bad as potato chips. A typical ounce of banana chips can clock up to 48% of your regular saturated fat intake for the day. Why? Because banana chips are often soaked in coconut oil and most vitamins have been cooked out of the fruity by the time they get to you.The only vaguely positive benefit of banana chips is a contribution to your fibre intake allowance.

Eat a fresh banana instead. :)

dried banana chips are great for snacking. They have lots of potassium and fiber, and satisfy your sweet tooth without too much damage. A fresh banana is always better, but dried banana chips are good for those moments when you really need to have candy and don't want to cave in to your cravings.
Fried banana chips are terrible if you're dieting since they have added sugar and are deep-fried. They are the nutritional equivalent of eating potato chips sprinkled with sugar.
Get the dried or the baked chips- they still taste great and they are good for you

Yes, they are good for ya cuz they're fruit!
Actually, it's actually a very good idea to eat banana chips or a banana. Or other fruits, fruits and dried fruits are actually a very good thing to eat.

It's sorta OK, although some banana chips have oil or sugar glaze added. Better to eat a real banana. And remember the slower you eat, the fuller you'll feel. :o)

I think they are high in calories, personally. Just a small handful is 130 calories. They pack on the calories because they are dehydrated or worse, baked, which means all the water and bulk is taken out of it, and it's nothing but the sugar and calories, and all the beneficial things about fruit (phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals) are greatly reduced by the preparation process. I would say eat fresh bananas instead! They fill you up more and it'll be more substantial, and you can't overeat on those!
