Hi there

It can mean a few things

... your HR person hasn't caught them yet :)
... they don't see the value in performance reviews and feedback
... they don't know how to do one
... they are afraid of your reaction
... there is no money in the budget to pay for additional training or pay rises for you

My advice to you - if you have a HR department talk with them. If not talk with your manager (pick you moment) and ask for some feedback on how you are performing. Don't ask for a review - just feedback. That way you will get some idea of how you are perceived by your boss. If you get useful information then you can ask why you don't do formal reviews.

Good luck

Ingrid

Maybe he has a hard time telling someone they are not working out. If he avoids the performance review, he can delay the firing/layoff.

Most of the time, bosses are just too busy to think about this sort of thing. It's not that they "have it out for you" because that would require too much attention or thought. It's most likely because s/he just doesn't think about it.

It means that your boss doesn't recognize that performance and salary reviews are important. And as long as you continue to allow them to slip, then they have no way of knowing that they ARE important to you.

Go to your manager. Have them put a performance review on the schedule. Pick a date and a time. If they attempt to reschedule, then make them choose another date or time. Not "sometime next month" or "after we get this report out" but "Tues, Jan 15 at 3pm." If you can't get them to set something up, then I would begin seeking other employment. Seriously.

No idea. Maybe there just isn't the money in the business to do any reviews at all so they are just avoiding it. Could be that your boss is just a chicken too and is having a hard time confronting the job at hand.

They don't want to validate what you are doing. Probably they are not wanting to give you a raise. Have you spoken to Supervisor or the people who put the reviews together. Every 6 mos is usually the time reviews happen. Some jobs every 3 mos. But a year is strange.
