More refineries are critical, for the short term. The price of gasoline is hurting the economy, and especially hurting the poor.

Yes, let's develop alternative energy sources, especially hydro electric.

But let's start building nuclear power plants again, too! Millions of people are sickened and die every year from the pollution created by coal burning power plants. But not a single American has ever been killed by a nuclear power plant. Not one! You could look it up.

Nuclear energy is the cleanest, safest, and cheapest form of energy currently available. Let's use it!

I am all for developing a home-oil refinery that produces the grade fuels you need from wholesale crude..someday you should be able to get the washer-machine size refinery at a Wal-Mart..and produce your own..with the proper regulations ..of course

Democrats don't seem to notice that the American people have no interest in alternate fuel. They want something that will work in the cars that they already own. Democrats are more interested in the welfare of the polar bear and the spotted owl than they are in human beings. We have enough oil available under US soil to take care of our needs for decades, but the environmentalist nuts block every effort to get it out of the ground.

in the info you refer to it doesnt cover enough info it seems like an attempt to build more refineries on gov. land and to by pass any new or proposed legislation to improve environmental standards of refineries ,thats the way this administration works so it makes it suspect is there any more info on the proposal please refer im interested

its the oil companies that dont want to upgrade the refineries that they have now, make them safer or invest any more money into them!!

as long as we look for alternative fuels there is no hurry for them to upgrade!!!!

they are happy with the way things are right now, how they can manipulate the market anyway they please, they own us!!!

look at what happened in Nigeria when the British, French, U.S.A oil companies had free reign to pump and drill as they please with no regulations or concern for the envirement or the occupants of the land!!!

now the Chineese are coming in to clean up the mess we made and respect the villagers and do it right!!!

P.S. The price of oil, even at its current price, is a *steal* for the U.S. Why should oil-rich countries be forced to sell their oil to us at cheap prices that WE like? Americans seem to think other countries owe them something for nothing.

To hinder the construction of new petro - chem plants / refineries, hinder the drilling for additional oil availabilities, even hindering the exploration for additional petroleum reserves, AND THEIR RAISING TAX'S AGENDAS, THERE BY HINDERING, IF NOT STOPPING, ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES RESEARCH, can provide no other / no alternative conclusion except that the current "HI-JACKERS" of the Democrat Party, are bent upon the destruction of our American Way Of Life !!!!!!!
