I don't think it's a scam exactly.....more a marketing ploy. They're trying to make it popular by pretty much paying people to spread it instead of paying for advertising. The advantage of paying people is that they save money because they are paying pennies, litrally, because for all the work you do, you get pretty much nothing. One dollar is probably a high estimate of how much someone would make for getting as many people as they could to join, and waisting all their time. I don't think it's even a very good site.
I personally prefer quality in a social networking site, rather than being paid pennies to use it. I mean think about it, sites like Yuniti (
http://yuniti.com ), Myspace (
http://myspace.com ), and Facebook (
http://facebook.com ), are providing you a SERVICE, we should be thankful we don't have to pay. Not be trying to make a quick penny off of them.
Choose a site you like, not a site that has to pay for you to like it.
