What is the average life a car in europe and the US?

Hi,
I currently live in the UK, most cars here have a life expectancy of about 6 years.
However, I still see vehicles on the road here that are 20 years old and still road worthy. It all depends on the owner and
how much money they are willing to spend to keep the cars on the road.
