The writer is obviously excited about England and views it almost like a fairytale dream land. He is in wonder of all the things he has heard of England and has a very positive attitude towards it. All I can really think of

she didn't love the British, she hated it. She felt bitter and resented their oppressive rule. She describes the British and people who were not welcome in the colonies, and has a sarcastic, biting tone when she says that "England was a jewel all right, and only special people got to wear it"

please go by my answer, i can guarantee that she is not"excited about England" and does not have a "very positive attitude towards it" but feel free to disregard these comments and go with the wrong answer seeing that the other answer leads to misreads and consequently, low grades

yeah hopefully you changed that answer. being dictated to, day in and day out, about the greatness and magnanimity of such a perfect and utopian-like place as England, and being bombarded with the comments about the fruitlessness of your own culture and land provokes a negative emotion. always.

Yeah wow.
Definitely not excited about England, not even a little bit.
You have to read the passage closely but Kincaid shows abhorrence and antipathy towards England.
