How is this indoor lighting effect created?

I was in a bedroom recently which had some type of lighting fixture built in- it produced a perfectly even strip of light glowing out from underneath a piece of molding. I'm wondering how this effect is achieved - is it fiber optic? The light was completely even and dimmable.

Its done with rope lighting. Is a thin plastic flex cable with small lights in it. Similar to the flex rope lites you see in the stores right now for Xmas displays. The indoor ones you saw were of much better quality and you can get them through any electrical supply house.
