Sugar was put in my gas tank. i didnt notice it until i drove it for 40 mile. Is my engine repairable?

Also, approximately how much is this going to cost me. Its a 2002 Toyota Tundra 8 cylinder 2wd.

oww that's not good
it's a shame to ruin a good motor but unfortunatly it is ruined
if you go with a junkyard engine your looking at about 1000$ for the engine alone
a rebuilt engine will cost you about $2500 to $3000
and if you go get one from the dealer ......... well i wouldn't the vehicle's blue book won't be that much

You don't say what happened. Sugar is not soluble in gasoline and usually the filter clogs and shuts it down.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any damage to your engine itself. Sugar can't be dissolved in gasoline, so it just sits at the bottom of your gas tank and doesn't go through your engine. I think you're fine. If your engine is actually having problems, I don't actually think it's sugar.

if the sugar did get sucked up by the fuel pump and your car is miss fireing, i would clean out the tank, clean out the lines, replace the gad filter and replace your injectors or send them out to be cleaned. you shouldn't need a whole new engine

if it got into your motor you could possibly have injector problems however I dont think you do, you probably have to drain the gas tank and change your fuel filter and you should be ok. A fuel filter runs about $20.00 or so and to have your tank drained will be fairly cheap other than the price of the gas, if they save it they can reuse it in your tank again, if you do this yourself. take out your fuel pump fuse and start your truck, when it dies you can take out your fuel filter and not have much gas spill all over you, after you take out your filter, put a can under the fuel line and put the fuse back in, turn your key on and if the pump shuts off turn your key off and back on until you empty your tank. you should be ok after that. good luck

Did The Engine Stall? Replace the Fuel Filter! Should Drain and Clean Gas Tank! Have the Injectors "Pressure" Cleaned! Run 3 to 4 Bottles of "STP, Gunk" Injector Cleaner through the Tank, 3/4 Tank with Each Bottle. Should Fix It!!
