Anyone else had a problem with MFI?

Question

We had a new kitchen fitted 6 months ago from MFI.

The worktops (wood laminate) are chipping and peeling away at the edges - quite frankly it looks b******s considering it's brand new.

We have been in repeatedly and complained and they've said (repeatedly!) that someone will come out and look at them. However, no one has called and we have to keep ringing them back. It is doing my head in!

Anyone else experienced poor customer service from them?

Not exactly, but I don't think they employ the best people. We had to get a replacement wardrobe door, and my husband tried to get the price down. The next I knew, the guy said he'd split the difference, gave us £40 off and pocketed £40 himself! He must have been Mr MFI!

Seriously, your statutory rights say that something has to be fit for the purpose it was purchased for, and your worktops obviously aren't. If you are still getting nowhere, you could speak to Trading Standards, or even visit a solicitor.

1st thing is this is why my family call it MFI-fall apart stuff

2nd thing go back and cram law down their thoughts erm sale of goods act or other acts in that area will help and get them out there fast :

call up the local press in your town & make them headline news...that'll get them moving!! they dont want bad publicity when there is so much competition out there!!

Same sort of problems..until I threatened to walk up and down outside shop with bill board telling folks they were shite....

Go on a sunday when they are busy, and make as much noise as you can without making them ring the police, you probably won't get anybody out on sunday, but you can bet they will be there within a few days. They don't like potential customers being put off, and sunday is a busy day, you want compensating too, don't forget that!

They've been well known for having no customer service for years! Their kitchens look great in the showroom - they left my friend with 5 kids with no plumbing or worktops at all for 6 weeks, when the worktop finally arrived all the angles had been cut on the opposite side to where they should have been!

there was an article in our local evening paper today about acouple who have been experiencing problems with them they ordered a dining room table about six months ago and still havent received it. mfi refused to comment when the paper tried to ask them so seems ur not alone
