Eric Daze retired in December 2006 due to back problems. He's doing well (or was when I last talked to him this past summer) but still not pain free.

Chronic back injury forced him to retire. That was about 3 or 4 years ago. Technically he is a FA and I don't think he ever officially retired but I also don't believe (as far as I know) he plans on resuming his career.

He had multiple surgeries on a herniated disc in his back and none seemed to correct it. I really enjoyed his junior days in the Q, playing with Marty Biron.

Nobody bothered to sign him, he's a free agent.

Éric Dazé (born July 2, 1975 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft (with the draft pick the Blackhawks received with Stephane Beauregard for Dominik Hasek), having starred for the Beauport of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He had early success, and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1996 after scoring thirty goals as a rookie. He scored at least twenty goals in each season between 1996 and 2003, even when struggling with injuries. He scored more than 200 goals in his career. He is currently an unrestricted free agent.
