I travel a lot for work, trying to stay in shape. What are good foods I can bring, or best places to eat out?

Since I travel a lot for work, I end up eating out a lot, which isn't really healthy. I also don't have a refrigerator a lot and such, so I need to find either some good foods I can store, or good options of things to eat when I eat out.

I used to work in telecommunications and traveled all over the globe for many years. I never really bothered packing a bunch of supplements it just made it easier going to customs, etc. I would always pack some MRP's from Met-Rx and a shaker cup. there are many decent MRP's out there I was just partial to those as one of my buddies designed it.

when it comes to eating it keep it simple, choose a quality protein and some steamed vegetables and a salad. steak & veggies, poultry & veggies, fish & veggies, etc. watch things with creams and sauces, they are always loaded with calories. keep the carbs to the bare minimum, maybe some cereal or a bagel with breakfast, whole fruit you can eat anytime in sensible portions. the rest of the day you really don't need any more carbs unless you will be exercising. the body stores excess glucose in the liver and in skeletal muscle as glycogen and will release it when it needs to. the key to controlling body is to by controlling insulin. substituting carbohydrates for proteins is a very simple way to accomplish this. they keep you satisfied longer and cause the lowest increase in blood sugar and insulin levels. low blood sugar and insulin levels allow the body to continually use free fatty acids as the primary energy source at rest. rest being the equivalent to sleeping, siting, light walking, computing, light office work, etc.
