Pirate wedding theme?

Question

It would be held on Halloween night. We were planning to use music from Pirates of the Caribbean during the ceremony. Guests are more than welcome to come in pirate costume or whatever else they choose. What other ideas do you have?

There are a lot of brides there who have been listing their Pirate weddings!
I have a good friend who is also having a Pirate wedding. It's in a rustic castle place by a lake. There will be sword play, and a trio hired from the Ren Fest as enterainers to play. They have a Pirate Ship cake, and a pirate figurine beside it as a topper. Lots of Captain Morgan's, of course, and Rum Balls!

I think that they are going to be pretty successful in getting everyone to dress up too - even their parents. Lots of folks are pretty excited already about it.
Do be sure to have extra Pirate hats, bandannas & eye-patches on the tables - that way the "pirate-impaired" can join in the fun.

Kudos to you for being ORIGINAL!!! Your wedding sounds like it's going to be fun, upbeat and lively!
Food ideas: Pineapple boats, Carribean jerked chicken, daquaris...
An old steamer trunk near where the gifts will be placed... Consider dry ice to give it a bit of a flair...

Decorations
- nets hung on the walls with star fish and shell bouquets
- the room should smell like the ocean and to keep people from getting sick add an oatmeal smell too
- put floating water candles (brown or in the shape of boats) in glass bowls filled with water (add food coloring to make it blue) or if you can't find floating water candles get a lot of transparent blue marbles/stones to put in the bowls. Put them as center pieces
- Also you should have fish tanks around

Lighting
-lots blue lights and candles from above

Bouquet
-shells
-tropical flowers

dress
-white with blown trim
- barefoot or white heeled boots
-maybe netting around skirt

have your bridesmaids dress as wenches... get your wedding attire from people who do clothes for renassaince faires so it isn't so costume-y...

the bridemaids wore a black peasant skirt of our choice (mine was from walmart baby!!) and matching chemises with bodices in complementary colors.. the groom wore black leather... we were on the beach in grand cayman though..

have fun - its your wedding and don't let anyone tell you to do something traditional if it doesn't excite you!!

For your favors you could have little bags of chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil. Rent or borrow some real live parrots to have at the reception. Make little pirate ships for your centerpieces.

Your wedding is going to be so much fun! You could have the groomsmen all carrying swords. Make a map to the reception site look like an old treasure map. Your wedding cake could have an old ship as a wedding topper also.
