Can anyone think of a song that will match the feeling I'm looking for?

Question

I was thinking a classical composition - but for a project for my College Literature class I have to write a paper on a poet and poem we had to select off of a list. We also have to create a power point "movie" with the poem's text and music that matches it's tone. I'm looking for something that has the haunting, delicate feeling that Moonlight Sonata has but something more sensual and dark. The poem is "Hymn to Beauty" by Charles Baudelaire. I was allowed to combine several translations -because only about 18,000 different versions exist- as long as I didn't change individual words and the overall meaning. I would even be fine with a more contemporary song if the lyrics were similar to the meaning of the poem but I would prefer something instrumental.

I think Sigur Ros would be great for that. Also try soundtracks of recent movies, Finding Neverland has beautiful music.

Try Liszt or Chopin for piano...you can check out youtube and have a listen to a few pieces.

How about solo violin works by Bach or the Chaconne by Vitali ? You can listen to all these on youtube to get a feel for the piece and see if it is suitable.

Yeah, check out "Six Studies in English Folksong" by Ralph Vaughn Williams; they were originally written for cello and piano, but look for the arrangements for CLARINET AND PIANO!!! VERY haunting and just what you're looking for!!! Dig it!!! - El Chupacabra -
