Its just like any Multi Level Marketing scheme...

You work your butt off to make someone else rich.....you are at the bottom of the pyramid and you have to recruit a TON of people to even make your money back..

Its a SCAM waiting to happen...

    Pure Romance offers a lot of products that can be purchased from hundreds of other companies.

    However before I consider to do my due diligence on any type of business I always look at the company as a whole first --- it must have what I call 7 Stars of Success. If just one single start is missing then person joining it is setting himself up for a failure.

    The 7 Stars Enterprise:

    1*******the right reusable product not available in stores directly shipped to your customers;
    2******the right timing;
    3*****the right management with your own successful mentor;
    4****the company being at least 3 to 5 years in business;
    5***the right compensation plan;
    6**the right cause and mission; and
    7*the company must not be publicly traded.

    Go from here and most of all your sponsor must be somebody who has been in this business for at least 12 months making profits, for only he/she can teach you how to duplicate his efforts.

    I had attended similar parties and purchased a few items. It always seemed that the people that I work with (who attended these parties with me ) purchased alot of stuff. Well, a friend and I went into the business we had four parties. We had 1 successful party out of four. It was not enough to cover the merchandise and the city ordinance is strict on this type of business and we started hearing rumors that the parties were getting raided, so we stopped having the parties and I have even had trouble selling the stuff for the whole sale prices on Ebay - go figure?? Do research and just like it seems that people are making money - maybe they are just breaking even?

    Not a bad experience personally with Pure Romance. I am in the industry but I sell for a different company called For Your Pleasure.

    Before getting into the business, you need to decide what things are important to you and what you're willing to spend on your business. I chose the company I did for the following reasons:

    *Start at 40% commission
    *Earning Potential up to 60%
    *The best downline commission payout in the industry - up to 20%
    *Personal Buying Discount equal to commission rate
    *Keep your commission the night of the party
    *Several kits to choose from
    *Host an ‘Open for Business’ show and earn your kit FREE!
    *No inventory, delivering, sorting or packing! FYP individually packages each customer order and delivers to the Hostess or Customer
    *Awesome Hostess Program, paid 100% by FYP, not from your commission
    *No Credit Card machine, FYP processes all credit cards
    *No merchant account or state sales tax ID number needed
    *Have your own website, the company's, or both - neither is required.
    *Earn Monthly Incentives from the Company
    *Earn Monthly Incentives from your Sponsor
    *Earn a Trip (this year it’s Italy!)
    *NO ACTIVITY QUOTAS!
    *Best variety of products with a 110 page, beautiful, color catalog
    *Earn when you share the FYP opportunity with others
    *Promoting yourself to management is a snap & is very attainable

    From what I know about Pure Romance businesswise, you will need to get a credit card machine and a merchant account and pay the merchant fees in order to accept credit cards at your parties. They also do not allow men at their parties and they only ship to the distributor which means that unless you are carrying stock to your parties, you are responsible for getting the products to the hostess or the customers. You also will be responsible for paying for the hostess program - typically that is 10% of retail sales at each party. So although your commission is 40%, at the end of the day the most you would take home after you've paid your hostess her credit is 30% - and that's before all the other fees you're responsible for.

    In terms of the business for me, and how it's going, I've been doing this for three years and I have had the most success as an independent consultant selling romance products than anything else I've ever done. I make more money doing this on the weekends than I ever did working fulltime outside the home - and I get to stay home with my kids.

    If you or other answerers would like to know more about the business I am a consultant for, you can visit my website at www.partiesbyjen.com, or email me directly for more information at jen@partiesbyjen.com.

    Good luck!

    This is a very good question. I have been a consultant for just over 7 months. The answer is yes, this can be a very good opportunity. However, you will get out of it what you put into it and it is not for everyone. In order to truly be successful, you need to treat this as a business (it is!), and stick it out for awhile. You need to work your business - it will not just happen for you. The women who have been successful in this company basically just didn't quit!

    Regarding the BBB rating. Yes - any business that relies on independent distributors rather than traditional retail outlets is likely going to have some issues. Pure Romance has over 10,000 independent consultants, so there are bound to be incidents with consultants who don't get products to customers in a timely manner, etc. Any home party plan will have similar concerns. Pure Romance's corporate office does a good job of handling these kinds of complaints and disciplining (or terminating) consultants that violate policies.

    Regarding other companies - I encourage you to look at all opportunities. For me it was a no-brainer - but different women have different priorities, so definitely shop around. Though I looked at other companies briefly, I did not seriously consider any of them. Frankly, it wouldn't matter what the compensation package was. I was drawn to Pure Romance because of the way it presents itself and it's products. Pure Romance's affiliation with academic institutions such as the Kinsey Institute, and programs for women who have undergone cancer diagnosis and treatment were also personally very important to me. It's a company that gives back a tremendous amount to support women's sexual health issues, and I'm very proud to be affiliated with it.

    I didn't get into this originally with the expectation of making lots of money. I thought it would be a fun diversion from my day job. That said, the support offered to consultants is phenomenal. Millions are invested in advertising and training annually.

    I've averaged about 2-3 parties a week since my 4th month with the company. I left my full-time job earlier this month to devote more time to my business. Is it paying all the bills yet? No. I earn about $800-1200 per month after I pay for hostess gifts, brochures, etc. BUT it's certainly not bad for a couple days a week. I've decided it would be more lucrative for me to focus on growing my Pure Romance business and work somewhere else part-time than continue at my full-time job and only do parties when I have time.

    Maybe you're only looking to do this very part time and that's fine too. One of the benefits of having a direct sales business is that you call the shots. To be successful, you'll need to be someone who has a lot of initiative, and be a little gutsy! Again, it's not for everyone, but can be very rewarding if you're willing to work for it. Bad experience with Pure Romance!! I was being actively recruited by a consultant who was initially very nice, but later became very insulting, condescending, and bragged about all her accomplishments. She kept harassing me, and after a while I decided to call the corporate office 1-866-romance to complain. Bad decision! Now I see where she gets her attitude from! Imagine working with a bunch of wealthy, caddy, insecure, condescending women and that's Pure Romance. When I complained about this consultant, the lady at corporate office stated "Oh, well we just haven't had any complaints about her before," as if I had the problem. I'm so disappointed bec I'd heard so many good things about them, but I think they're just going down hill...
