Actually, the first poster is correct, even though they were kidding. They do make a product for goats that contains dimethicone. It's called Therabloat. You can give it orally, and it helps with a couple of different kinds of bloat.

The best thing that I have found is to actually take the goat for a car ride... the jiggling helps to break down the bubbles. You can also massage the stomach, and sometimes that will help too. Just put both hands on the goats stomach (one on each side of the goat) and press firmly and rhythmically on the stomach area.

Once you hear burping, you are golden. Keep doing whatever it is that you are doing to keep producing gas.

You might want to give some oral probiotics once everything is all said and done.

If you use a vet make sure they know goats. Goats are a lot easier to accidently kill than most people would think.

Many, many years of goat ownership.

We had two kids that were the queens of bloat... we would hold them in our laps and jiggle them... it worked every time!

Stop giving green fodder, give dry feed with water, make it exercise, if problem persists for long go to a vet because bloat can cause impaction & death also.

Bloat can be fatal if untreated, but quick action can save his live. The best, easy home remedy is baking soda and vegetable oil. It works very well and within a few minutes. Make baking soda balls by mixing baking soda with just enough water to form into balls and feed to the goat (you will likely have to force feed them by placing at the back of the mouth). Follow up with approx. a tablespoon of vegetable oil (use a syringe without the needle to administer). If that doesn't work, the goat may have a more serious problem such as a twisted gut and will need a vet ASAP.
