Why does my cat eat Qtips?

Question

Every time I go in the bathroom my cat follows me and before I know it he's dragged our used Qtips out of the trash and he'll lay there and suck o the ends of them...Why does he do that?

He may primarily be playing and thinking it's a fun different toy, .. then sucking the cotton tip as if nursing, if it's reminiscent of him being weaned.....???
Whatever, kitty's are real characters when it comes to what interests them!!!

I would be more concerned that should he get "real carried away",.. he may choke on it or if swallowed may screw up his intestinal tract (that goes for "rubber bands", "twist-ties", etc. too)!

Cute, but you know the saying, "Curiosity ===== the cat"!

One of my cats use to do that ,but I was always having to run her out of the clean ones.She just played with them.Another cat I have use to find every hair band I owned and play with them all the time.I would always find them in the water bowl.I guess he tried to wash them when he was done.

ha ha. Thats really odd! I guess it is just his taste, we all have preferences, some of us may have weird ones but whatever. My cat loves to chew of rubber bands. Who knows why! Well, i wouldn't worry, but maybe you should throw them away in a garbage that the cat can not access because unique or not, don't you think that a little, well odd? (It may be unhealthy, idk)

Hey! My cat does that! It gets annoying when you find qtips all over th place, right? They do it cuz they want something to play with, I guess. Buy them some mice toys.

Our cat does that too and I've been wondering the same thing! It started when we first got her a few weeks ago and I was cleaning her eye out with one and ever since she grabs clean ones, dirty ones, any one!

I have to keep our Q Tips to use in the drawer and the dirty ones are in the trash can, I had to put the trash can under the sink! (I'm afraid she'll choke on them so I hide them, maybe you should too?!)

Just thought I'd share that our cat does the same thing. Some of the answers people have are good to know. I guess cats just do what they do :)

He may like the taste of ear wax if it is on the Q-tip. Weird, I know, but one of my cats loved ear wax. Go figure.... Be careful he doesn't choke.

because he's a cat and it is his place in life to puzzle you.
my cat jumps up on the vanity and takes the ponytailers that my wife uses. had to do some work behind the refrigerator last week and found a pile of them stashed there.
that's a cat for you.

My kitties do the same thing. I am not sure why. It might be something they like to play with or maybe a scent or taste they desire.
