Do I have a astigmatism?

My right pupil is bigger then my left pupil and I wanted to know if it was a astigmatism or is it just bigger, and idk if you can get contacts when one pupil is bigger then the other. I wanted to get contacts, and my parents said I wouldn't because my eyes where messed up to much. I wanted to prove to them that I could if it is just a astigmatism!

It's not astigmatism. Astigmatism is something you can't see with the naked eye (although it can be measured.) Astigmatism is a not-completely-round cornea and is very common, and can be corrected with glasses.

Unequal pupil sizes -- if you've had it all your life, it's just how you were made. (It can also happen from trauma, or have other issues related to it.) But if you have had it all your life, it's nothing to worry about.

If you must have a name for it, it's called: ANISECORIA. (ann-is-seh-core-ee-uh)

I, too, have unequal pupil sizes (and I'm an ophthalmic asst.). My left eye pupil is 7 milimeters, my right eye is 5.

just go to the eye doctor.i have an astigmatism and my pupils are the same size.

you can still get contacts. they'll be contacts for people with astigmatism though. you might have astigmatism....not sure though.get an eye exam at wamart the next time you;re there shopping

You can get contacts but u might require customized ones. Astigmatism has nothing to do with the size of your pupils.

astigmatism is where the curve of you eye is too flat so it makes your vision blurry and it even harder to see when it is dark.

and you just need contacts that a made special for astigmatism

No, but you need to get to an eye doctor fast. That could be a sign of uveitis or iritis, both bad news and painful. An astigmatism is a fold or ridge in the cornea that causes the vision along it to be distorted.

Astigmatism is not the size of your pupils, it's the size and and shape of your corneas. Different sized pupils can exist for all different sorts of reasons -- sinus trouble, or even 'just so' I believe. See an optometrist (sorry to have to say this -- hope you can get a free eye test), or try a GP to rule out something else if you have other symptoms.

You should definitely wear contacts or glasses if you need them ----- but only if you need them! Otherwise you can get bad headaches and do eye damage (if you wear them when you shouldn't or don't when you should).

I have astigmatism and different sized pupils, and was sent to an optometrist who clarified the situation for me. The astigmatism was too mild to warrant glasses and the different sized pupils turned out to be a symptom of chronic sinusitus.

I think the slight difference in the size of the two eyes doesn't cause significant astigmatism.

I think the radiation on the computer screen may cause astigmatism and other irregularities of eye vision.

The best thing you do is submit yourself for an eye checkup with an ophthalmologist.

If you have a history of "messed up eyes" the answer to this is going to need an eye-examination to give you individual answers.
But, in general:
astigmatism and pupil size have no connection with one another.
Eyes with different pupil sizes that react normally do happen occasionally. If one eye reacts poorly or not at all, this usaually indicates previous illness of accident. Not necessarily serious.
Any acquired difference in pupil size or reaction requires investigation, but if your parents know your eyes are "messed up" this may have already been done.

Cosmetic contacts are available (as special orders) which can create, or remove, a difference in pupil size but, since they don't react to light, one won't match a normal reacting iris/pupil in all conditions.
