Manny ramirez?

ive always wondered whats up with manny's helmet....everyones is polished and clean and his looks like he rubs it un mud before every game...why is that?

He uses pine-tar on his bats it is a sticky tar-like substance that helps you get a better grip on the bat, he then gets it on his hands and then touches his helmet causing it to rub off and over time cakes dirt and debris on, why he or someone employed by the Red Sox doesn't clean it? Because its Manny being Manny, being grubby and disheveled is part of his "style".

The crud on the front is pine tar and dirt. Pine tar is a sticky substance batters use to get a better grip on their bats. It gets on his batting gloves and then his helmet when he adjusts it. Most people clean it off but Manny likes it so he doesn't, maybe its superstition.

Several players in MLB do this. Trot Nixon, Ozzie Guillen used to, etc. etc. Some guys just don't clean up their helmet !!! To each his own.
