What is the difference in pain relief from darvocet vs. vicodin?

Vicoden is stronger than Darvocet. Propoxyphene (Darvocet) will make some people more nauseated and can actually give you heart palpitations. Hydrocodone (Vicoden) is closer chemically to a true opiate and is more effective with pain control. It's more addictive than Darvocet but for short term pain control, I personally would prefer the Vicoden because it also has a longer duration of pain relief.

If you get nauseated with any kind of pain medication call your doctor and have them prescribe Phenergan. Take it 30 minutes before you take the pain medication and always make sure you eat a little something with it too. Phenergan can increase the drowsy side effects but it also boosts the analgesic effects as well.

vicodin is a "stronger" pain med than darvocet....it will provide more pain relief than a darvocet

Darvocet is a mild pain medication where as Vicodin is a very hard pain medication. Most people can tolerate Darvocet but have a hard time w/ Vicodin.
