If a freeze in early spring causes apple trees in Texas not to produce enough apples. . .?

then how do they grow apples in Michigan?

It depends on wheter the flower buds had stated to break or not. Last year here in North central Ok. we had a late freeze which killed all of my apple buds. Different vatieties bloom at different times which is why certain one arew more common in different areas. If you read the descriptions in the nursery catalogs they usually give information as to which ones bloom later to avoid a late freeze. I have Gala and Prarie Spy. The Gala budded too early so I had no pollinator for my Prarie Spy.

Duh! I should have thought of that. I know that everythign blooms later in colder climates. :-)
