What does the serenity prayer mean to you?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

To me it means that I am asking for Grace to accept the things in my life that I really have no control over. If I can't control them, then I don't want to be all stressed or worried over them.
The second part says to me that sometimes it takes courage to make changes in my life that I know are for the better.At times it is far easier to snuggle in and be comfortable rather than forge ahead with changes that will probably be for the long- term best..
The last part to me means that I hope I will have the wisdom and discernment to know when I need to "accept" and when I need some courage to step forward and "change".

I honestly don't like that prayer at all to me its telling people to conform which is something that I don't like to do personally I like the footprints in the sand much better

I love this quote. To me it means that I would like to know what things I can change and what things i cannot, and I want to actually act on them.

This prayer does give me serenity! It helps me remember the existence of a higher power and recognizing that this higher power is truly the only one who can bring me inner peace regardless of the chaotic circumstances I find myself in.

It means I'm stuck in another Court Ordered AA meeting with a bunch of drunken whiny losers.

I think its beautiful and its a way of life for me.It helps me sort of keep my head straight when life gets a little chaotic and I lose track of how I should handle different situations that come up in life.
