How much does Clomid cost?

What are the success rates (how long does it generally take to get pg; how many of the pregnancies go to full term), when will the doctor prescribe it, and how does it work?

I do not have Insurance at the moment.

How long do you have to be "actively" ttc before the doctor will precribe it and how is it determined when or if it is needed?

My doctor wouldn't let me go more than four months on Clomid. He said if I was going to get pregnant it would be within four months. I had been charting for four months when I went to my doctor. Since I wasn't having any temp spikes and everything was flatlined he prescribed Clomid. I started at 50mg and ovulated all three times. However, I was uber sensitive and my follies were too large. I did however get pregnant the month after coming off Clomid. As for me, it only cost $4 but that's my copay with Tricare. At Walgreens it was $25 for five pills at 50mg. Good luck to you!

Thanks
Do you really think you should be ttc if you don't have insurance?

Most times it will work in the first 6 months if its going to work for you. I think i read it has a 40% sucess rate.

It basically stimultes your ovaries into producing an egg and ovulating.

I just noticed that clomid is one of the Drugs on the Walmart cheap drug list.. its only $9.00 for 5 50mg pills which is genereally what the doctor will start you off at , then raise it to 100 mg if 50 doesn't work So it will cost 9.00 per month until you get increased then you jsut take 2 pills instead of 1, so then it will be 18.00 per month.

( I got ripped off too! my insurance convered most of it and I still paid 12.00 for 5 pill at CVS) GOING TO WALMART NEXT MONTH

Clomid (brand) is about $80 per 5-day course. Generic is like $30 per 5-day course. (I just looked at the other answer -- holy cow. Did Rite-Aid just completely rip me off? I paid $80 just last week.)

We've failed to conceive 3 months now with Clomid + timed intercourse. We are trying Clomid + IUI this month.

If you go to Rite Aid and get the generic brand (it works just as good as the original brand )it cost $16.99 For 5 pills that's how much it said on there web site but when we went to pick mine up they were going to charge us like $27.99 or something like that but when we told them that it said $16.99 on there web site they gave it to us for that price.Rite Aid is the only Pharmacy I found that had the cheapest price for clomid.Original brand cost around $100 for 5pills but it all depends what pharmacy you get it at.You have to be trying for atleast a year then you go to the doctor and they'll do test on you and your partner. It depends if your doctor thinks you need clomid then he'll prescribe it for you.The way clomid works it tricks your mind by thinking there is no estrogen and then it starts producing more and then you'll start to ovulate better and producing more eggs.It can take up to a month to 8months for a women to get pregnant on clomid. Here are some web sites for you to read up on about clomid.http://infertilityblog.blogspot.com/2006… http://infertility.about.com/cs/clomi1/a… http://www.mesomorphosis.com/steroid-pro… http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-11204-Cl… http://www.babycenter.com/0_fertility-dr…
