a kilo is a thousand
1,000 meters = one kilometer

1,000 grams = one kilogram
900 grams = 0.9 kilogram

in computers, a kilobyte is a bit different.
There is a power of 2 very close to 1,000

2 4 8 16 32 64 124 248 512 1024
Ok ,,, 1024 is a power of 2

to convert grams into kilograms you have to divide by 1000.
900grams / 1000 = 0.9 kilograms.
100 grams = 0.1 kilograms

1000 grams = 1 kilogram.
