Show me another »

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again,......?

but expecting different results." - Rita Mae Brown.
In hindsight, I see this pattern in me in past relationships. I use this statement to help me not repeat the same pattern in present day relations. Anyone in the same boat? Any other mantras that have been helpful?

That is a HUGE saying around the 12-step program!

Rita Mae Brown. Isn't that Whoopi's character in the movie "Ghost"?

But, to answer you're question, I use the "Serenity Prayer" quite often to help keep my head on straight (or bi...whatever).

"You get what you pay for." And I mean that in both the financial and emotional sense. If you meet someone and your connection is based on the superficial, (hot body, great in bed, pays for everything, etc.), then it's ridiculous to expect a deeper, more meaningful relationship to come out of that.

BTW, Sobert - Whoopi's character in GHOST was named "ODA Mae Brown."

The only piece of advice that I have is to look for something completely different than what you've had before...analyze the ones you've had, then think of what you haven't tried (that would be healthy), and keep at it until you find that special someone.

While I agree with that saying, I also think that the more you practice something ,the easier it gets. Not that the thing you are trying to accomplish gets any easier, but that you become more skilled at something the more you do it. Pracitice makes perfect, in other words.

well if you really think about it we are all insane to keep falling in love looking for love hoping for love and yes getting hurt by love but what do we do we are always ever faithfully wishing for it in some form or another..a thin line between love and hate but then we are all insane in some way or fashion..
