How big are xanax bars (2mg dose)??

Question

i just got prescribed 2mg of xanax for insomnia and i havent yet picked up my prescription.

the reason i ask is because i am not good at swallowing pills because i have a smaller throat. but how big are the 2mg bars?

Additional Details

also will it cause long term memory problems?? or just short term amnesia while i am on it?

They are not any bigger than a Tylenol Capsule, just shaped as a rectangle instead.

Have you tried anything else for sleep previously? The reason I ask is because I am now trying to get off of Xanax as I did not know how addictive it was when it was prescribed to me and it is very difficult and the withdrawal symptoms are horrible. There are so many medications out there now that have a lot fewer side effects and are not as addictive as Xanax, which is typically prescribed for anxiety. I am surprised you were prescribed 2mg. right away as it is usually prescibed in lower doses and then built up as tolerated over time. Some sleep medications that are popular at this time and work well are Ambien, Ambien CR and Lunesta. Just a suggestion but you may want to talk with your Dr. again before starting the Xanax and look at all your alternatives. Good luck with your insomnia~

If they're bars, that's a problem. Xanax 2 mg aren't very big tablets, though.

Usually, Xanax comes in the following dosages:

0.25 mg white oval or round tablet, scored.
0.5 mg peach oval or round tablet scored (0.5 mg Alprazolam may also be found in white round tablet scored)(Equivalent to 10 mg diazepam and 0.5 mg clonazepam)
1 mg blue oval or round scored tablet.
2 mg white rectangle multi-scored tablet.
The Xanax XR formulation is usually marketed as:

2 mg blue round tablet Imprinted "X / 2" (Equivalent to 40 mg diazepam and 2 mg clonazepam)
3 mg green triangular tablet Imprinted "X / 3"
