Anyone ever read the book "Bastard Out of Carolina"?

No, I'm not a student and I'm not asking for homework help.

I'm a librarian, and I'm trying to make a list of award winning lesbian historical fiction. For some reason, "lesbian" is a subject heading on the book Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison. But I can't find any reviews, reports, or summaries that say anything about there being any lesbians in the book!

If anyone has read this book, can you tell me first, is there any lesbian content? And would you recommend the book to lesbians looking for historical fiction?

Thanks a bunch everyone :-)

I can tell you that I saw a movie with that title, but it didn't have any lesbian content to it. In fact, it was about child abuse.
