How can I re-download Microsoft Paint?

Question

Mine somehow got deleted and I've tried everything to get it back but it won't work.
And suggestions?

Hi there, you can download MS Paint directly from the Microsoft website, at

http://download.microsoft.com/download/winntwks40/paint/1/nt4/en-us/paintnt.exe

First, you might have only deleted the shortcut, not the actual software. Check by searching for paint.exe. If Search locates it, right-click the file, click Create Shortcut, then drag the shortcut to the menu you want it on.

If it's actually paint.exe that is missing, in Control Panel, open Add/Remove Programs, and click Add/Remove Windows Components. Click Accessories and Utilities, then click the Details button. Click Accessories, then click the Details button. If Paint is not selected, click it. If it is selected, click it once to clear the box then click it again to re-select it. Click OK, click OK, click Next. Click Finish.

EDIT: it's MSPAINT.EXE not "paint.exe"

is it possible that you just deleted the shortcut and not the program itself? look in your C:\Windows (or C:\Windows\System32 - I don't recall offhand) for "mspaint.exe

if it is there you can right-click on it and drag to the desktop, a little menu will come up and just select "Create shortcut here".

If you want to return the shortcut to where it belongs navigate to C:\Docs and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories --- and stick it in there.

If you can't locate mspaint.exe go to Add/Remove Programs and on the side there - Add/Remove Windows Components
and reinstall "accessories" (it may be called something a little different - I can't verify that now).

Did you tell me please which Windows version you have?

You didnot mention it.

However if you have windows XP then you can reinstall Microsoft Paint by following step.

(You must have Windows XP CD in your CD drive)

1 open control panel and goto add remove programs.

2 Click on Add remove windows components

3 In new window select Accessories and utilities and click on details
4 from new windows again select accessories and click on details

5 from another new window select paint and click ok
then ok then ok.


Installation will be start.
