Using your webcam on a dell laptop?

Question

I was wondering how do you take pictures or make videos with your dell laptop? I have an inspiron 1520, with an integrated webcam but I cant figure out how to take pictures or make videos. The only program it came with is the Creative Live! webcam avatar program.

Any and all advice would be great.

These seem to be popular with people wanting to create online videos showing the screens of their computer. They record audio and video of a selected area. These are the same programs that people use to steal videos from youtube and such. I put them in order from free to shareware..read all the user reviews before deciding. Im sure a few of these programs can take picture shots as well.
