Brokerage firm...???

okay im 18 and just started college majorng in Buisness adminstraion. i really want to get experience in the financial field cause i want to be a stockbroker. i know since im young and have no degree, theres not much i can do but do u think if i contacted them about simple paperwork, etc they would let me?? what if i asked them if i could do volunteer work? would this be a good idea or not?? i was thinking about writing a formal letter to the firm in my area, or should i call???? any suggestions. i was reading erin burnett's bio and she wrote a letter to a reporter and became her assistant!

call... ask to be an assistant.... ask for an internship...

Brokers would love to have someone un-paid calling random phone numbers trying to set appointments... i'm sure you can get in the door that way.... you don't need a degree... just people skills and a little ambition.

It would be a very good idea... it will pull back the curtain and let you see what the job is really like... and not the glamorized portrait shown in movies.... it might change your opinion.. or not... either way you'll be better off if you try.

call : Merrill Lynch, AG Edwards, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan-Chase, H&R Block Financial Advisors, Lehman Brothers, Bear Sterns, Wachovia Securities, Raymond James...... stick to the big names.. that will give you a better impression of what life is like.... and stick to full service... so you can see the consultation that is done and not just the order-takers.
