Does darvocet expire? i have the generic actually and it will be 2 years old in November. is it still good?

I'm having the same issue now as when it was prescribed and really dont want to have to wait for an appt, then pay the office visit fee, etc, if this is still ok. Thanks!

All prescription medication "supposedly" expires 1 year from the day that the prescription is filled.

Personally, I think they might just decrease in strength over time. I have taken a lot of medication, especially painkillers, well after 1-2 year and I found that they worked just fine.

NOTE: the reason I still had painkillers after 1-2 years is because I felt I didn't need them anymore after my initial problem. I hung on to them and was glad that I did, because they helped me with future pain issues.

It's probably still good. There has been a movement to change this expiration date on drugs, due to the fact that it's probably a ploy by the drug companies to sell more drugs. If it's only been two years, I would take the stuff. I know that aspirin does expire...when it smells like vinegar, it's old enough to have changed chemically and isn't as effective.
