I have been taking ativan/lorazepam and have had some acute manic episodes.?

I had such feelings of restlessness and irritability. I wanted to do crazy things. I intentionally emotionally hurt my boyfriend, actually enjoying his pain. A few hours later I was normal. It seems like the ativan is having its opposite effect. Its enhancing my manic moods instead of stabilizing my anxious, depressive moods. Has anyone experienced this?

With some of these types of medications, there is a considerable break in period. In fact, for the first few weeks after beginning a regimen, it may seem that you are getting worse instead of better.

However, your symptoms should begin to subside after that adjustment period. If not, you need to stop taking the medication and begin a new search for a more appropriate solution.
