Did angels really open prophet Muhammed's chest to CLEAN his heart?

There is a prophetic statement in both Sahih Bukhary and Sahih Muslim where prophet Muhammed told his companions that angels came down to him, cut his chest open, took his heart out and washed it in a gold container in order to purify prophet Muhammed's heart.

- Did that FAIRY story really take place?

- If I want to PURIFY someone's heart, can I do the same like what was done to prophet Muhammed?

    uhhh heeelll nohh

iuno where they got THAT FAIRY tale from, and u can nvr do the same

there a reason why Allah picked Muhammed (s.a.w.) as a phrophet,

because during his life he was good to everyone and HIS heart was CLEAN, he was a very good person who would deliever the message of God clearly.

but theres a way to clean ur own heart,
by doing good and performing Hajj,
    asking God for forgiveness.

not wishing angels come to you and slit open ur heart to purify it.

Sometimes or most of the times...events that took place in the Quran are pre-arranged by Allah to signify and be symbolic to some deeper meanings. That event that u mentioned happened prior to the event of Israk Mikraj where the Prophet ascended even beyond the heavens to have direct contact with Allah, where even the Angel Gabriel have no access. Allah is pure in nature and those who are not pure have no rights/previlege to have direct contact with Him.

Logically though, for Allah who is so powerful and almighty there is no need and requirement for Him to cause the Prophet to endure that (the open heart surgery) and the journey that follows subsequently, if He wishes for His Prophet to meet and see Him personally. It would be sufficient for Allah to command Muhammad to appear instantaneously in front of His presence. Thus the surgery and the journey (Israk Mikraj) endured by the prophet is a mere symbol of purification and journey to be endured by mankind to achieve the status of perfection, equivalent to saints and prophets in terms of faith and deeds.

The modern day equivalent of that surgery would be the efforts of "tazkiyatun nafs", dzikrullah (remembrance of Allah) and suluk (isolation) as practised by purely genuine Muslim Sufis and those who practiced tasauf in Islam. In order to be genuine, one must strictly follow the rules and prescribed by Islamic shariah, Quran and sunnah (words and deeds of the prophet). By practicing that, one Muslim ascends from one station of the heart to another station that befits his conditions and finally if Allah wills it, he/should could be granted the station of insanul kamil (perfection) as achieved by Prophet Muhammad.
