Do retailers (like Lowe's) mark down the price of lawn mowers in the winter?

It depends. You need to do your research and find out if the model is about to be changed, upgraded or discontinued but if warranties on the current model will be honored and if the current model is one that is still an excellent or solid one.

If you come into the store with that information (you may have to call the dealer of the model to get it, their 800 number, search the web for that) and can back up what you say with proof, the store manager may decide not to keep the mower over the winter or give you a larger discount on the spot. Worked for us!
