What do you do about a tick infestation on several acres?

Question

I have almost 5 acres no dogs for 3 years now. But we have a hugh tick infestation. We can't even do any thing to the land cause if you get out of the vehicle there are 30 ticks on you immediately. There are some flattened out areas that the deer look to being laaying down in. What can I do to get rid of them? Am I just going to have to wait until winter sets in? But then what of next year?

Can you just take a tractor and mow the weeds down??

have you looked online to see what exterminator solutions are for tick infestations......i am certain there is an organic solution to it...nature has a way of cleaning things without chemicals.....i am positive there is a remedy for your nature retreat.....

It's not economical to treat that large of an area. You can buy a yard spray that works fairly well, but I only treat the area within 20 yards of our house. If any of us take a walk in the woods, we use spray, and blouse our pantleggs. We also have another family member check for ticks when we get back to the house. (I have 8 acres, 7 are wooded.)

C02 Trap: A carbon dioxide trap is simply a covered ice bucket or styrofoam container with several holes in the sides near the bottom. Place approximately 2 lbs. of dry ice in the bucket and place the bucket on a piece of white flannel or a piece of plywood with a masking tape barrier. The tape should be stapled to the plywood around the edges with the sticky side up. If you use flannel, inspect both sides for one to three hours after trapping begins. The dry ice should last about three hours and attract every tick with a 75 sq. ft. area around the trap.
